the way from Scotland – my very good friend from art college days, Ingrid Nilsson. Ingrid is a very talented artist and produces the most amazing prints.
Two new books
Kate has two new books out this year, The Cherry Tree Summer and The Peacock House. Both are published by Headline and are available in paperback, ebook and Audible versions. Both books are also published by Bastee Lubbe in Germany.

Kate Glanville Ceramics has been nominated as a finalist in the upcoming West Wales Business Awards, which are due to take place on the 19th January. The business has been nominated in the small business category along side two other businesses from West Wales. Judges will be looking for companies that have marked significant achievements during the past year, for instance by growing sales, exports, jobs, or expanding or investing. After a record year for sales and completing orders from Ireland, Switzerland, The United States and Australia, I hope to be in with a chance! I have also had considerable development work done on my website that will enable the business to operate more efficiently.
The black-tie event will take place on Friday, January 19th, at Stradey Park Hotel, Llanelli, and will be hosted by Frances Donovan and the guest speaker is Wales and Lion legend Shane Williams. I will let you know how I get on!

25 Years of Painting Pots!

Hens and Hares for Easter!

It has been a busy winter here in Dinefwr Park; November and December were a mad rush – getting orders made and sent out, exhibiting at several Christmas fairs and having a special Christmas pot sale here at Dairy Cottage.
January and February were just as busy with orders for plates and tile murals and trying very hard to finish the first draft of my fourth novel – I succeeded with this and am now having lots of fun going through it, making changes and editing it – my favorite part!
Over the winter we enjoyed many cosy evenings by the fire at Dairy Cottage, but it’s lovely now the days getting longer and we can really enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Dinefwr Park. The birds are singing, daffodils are everywhere and Easter isn’t far away. At my studio at Birdshill Farm I’m already very busy making Easter orders, lots of egg-cups – of course! Pottery makes a great alternative to Chocolate!

Christmas 2016

Christmas is approaching fast along with a series of festive art, craft and literary events that I am involved with. The first will be an exhibition being held at the hall beside the famous Aberglasney Gardens.
Art at the Hall, Saturday 25th November to 4th December, brings together local artists and crafts people to showcase what an amazing array of talent there is within just a few miles around Llandeilo. Painters, sculptors, print makers and ceramicists will be showcasing their work in the newly refurbished Llangathen Hall – a beautiful Art Deco building just three miles from Llandeilo.
I will also be exhibiting at the National Trust Dinefwr Christmas Fair in Llandeilo – which is held in Newton House right next door to my cottage!! Very handy – but I still bet I’ll be late!!! Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th November.
Lots of Christmas gift ideas on my stall and on the many other stalls including amazing food and drink from local producers.
Book Fair

Its been a busy six months in my new studio at Birdshill. I’ve produced over one hundred and fifty plates, four hundred mugs and ten tile murals! Here’s a mural that I produced in July and is now happily installed above the customer’s AGA in their kitchen.

Holiday Tile Murals

Hopefully the summer has begun and I’m looking forward to the spending long sunny days on the beach with my family. These tile murals were designed to commemorate just such lovely days. The harbour scene was inspired by a trip to Tenby last summer, with special memories of eating fish and chips on the sea wall! The second mural was designed for a customer who wanted to remember her Brittany holidays even when she was at home in her Welsh kitchen.

Kate Has Moved!

I have moved! After twenty years decorating pottery in the village of Bethlehem on the edge of the Brecon National Park I have now moved my studio just down the road to Llandeilo. I am working in a lovely barn at Birdshill Farm just on the outskirts of Dinefwr Park. From my work bench I look out at at the beautiful hills and wildlife of The Towy valley which I’m sure will provide wonderful inspiration for my ceramics and my writing.

When Nesta’s husband leaves her on the day of their Ruby Wedding Anniversary a chain of events begin that will change their lives of the three women forever. Set against the backdrop of a pretty English town Stargazing is a novel that demonstrates that things are seldom as idyllic as they seem.
Book Launch At Wrights Emporium

The book launch for Stargazing was held on Thursday 21st January at Wrights Food Emporium near Llandeilo. It was a glittering event with over eighty people in attendance. Prosseco flowed and Jason Lawday, Ceri Jones and Elsa played beautiful music to accompany the sparkling mood of the evening. Welsh BAFTA winning actress Rhian Morgan read out a short passage from Stargazing and added great dramatic effect! Kate signed many copies of the book and a lovely time was had by all.

Bathroom Tiles
October 2015
I very much enjoyed making these bathroom tiles for the recently refurbished Court Henry near Llandeilo. My clients wanted tiles for the children’s bathroom. They had sourced reproduction 1930’s wallpaper and wanted tiles to complement the design. Court Henry is a historic Grade 2 listed mansion in Carmarthenshire and I was very excited to be part of the renovation project that has seen the house transformed. It’s lovely to see my tiles in situ in such a beautiful home.
Bespoke Mugs for Kate’s Race

I have just delivered thirty bespoke mugs to the Isle of Man for a fell race starting at Laxey Beach and ending at the summit of Snaefell. The race is in memory of Kate Burge who, amongst many other wonderful things, was an enthusiastic fell runner. Her husband has organised the race for the 11th October and asked me to design a mug that depicted the route including the seafront cottage he and Kate shared. Hand Painted Aga Splashback

I was delighted to see my hand painted tiles featured in this months English Country Home magazine. I recently designed this bespoke tile mural for a family who wanted kitchen tiles for their new home. Initially I discussed their ideas with them over the phone and by email – they wanted a cake themed tile mural to go behind their Aga. I sent them a design drawing and we worked together to create the perfect design for their Aga mural. I even managed to incorporate the children’s hand prints into the single tiles around the main design. It’s lovey to see the tiles in situ – I think the tile design looks stunning in their fabulous new kitchen!
I Love Gin Mugs

A new batch of hand painted mugs has been delivered to my local gin emporium – www.ginhaus.co.uk . The Ginhaus Deli is a wonderful bar, restaurant and delicatessen in the lovely Welsh town of Llandeilo near to my home in Bethlehem. This is the second order of bespoke mugs designed especially for The Ginhaus – the first order sold out in days! I am rather partial to a gin and tonic myself so enjoy painting my I Love Gin range very much!
The Great British Bake off
September 2015
For the last three years I’ve been lucky enough to have a tiny part in Britain’s favourite television programme The Great British Bake Off – well six of my hand painted mugs have had a tiny part! They have been used on the set of the show adorning dressers, shelves and tables. As the contestants stress over their tarts and sponges my children and I have had great fun trying to spot the mugs. They have also featured on An Extra Slice, most prominently hanging from a hook just behind Jo Brand’s left shoulder!
The BBC commissioned them specially but they are also available to order via my website.
